Historique
The Mafèrinyah center was created on November 16, 1988 and was baptized in April 1992 in
<< National Center for Training and Research in Rural Health (CNFRSR) >> Jean SENECAL under the aegis of the Guinean government with the help of the Brittany region (France), the French Ministry of Cooperation, local representatives of the Unicef and the World Health Organization.
Objectives of the CNFRSR
- Offer Primary Health Care (preventive, curative, and promotional), for this Mafèrinyah center houses a health center which operates in accordance with the national health policy based on primary health care.
- Provide practical training for students in medicine, pharmacy and professional health schools.
- Ensure development through continuing training of medical and paramedical staff in primary health care.
- Undertake operational research with a view to making recommendations to improve the health status of populations through improved services.
Description of the research site
It is located in Mafèrinyah center, capital of the sub-prefecture of Mafèrinyah. The sub-prefecture of Mafèrinyah (Lower Guinea region), which covers an area of 500 km2, is located approximately 75 km from the capital Conakry. It is located at an equal distance (25 km) between the prefectures of Coyah and Forécariah and has forty-one (41) sectors distributed between seven (7) rural districts: Mafèrinyah center, Fandié, Béréiré bafila, Madinagbé, Maléah, Koket and Moribayah [Beavogui et al.1996, Sylla et al.1998]. Its population, mainly with an agro-pastoral vocation, is estimated at 30,000 inhabitants, including 11,243 in Mafèrinyah center [Monitoring activities of the health center, 2006].
